A federal judge will soon unseal hundreds of court documents revealing names of people connected to deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. During an interview with Pat McAfee, Aaron Rodgers’ Jimmy Kimmel tweet made a wild claim connecting the talk show host to the disgraced financier and Kimmel is not having it.
Epstein died in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges. He would have faced up to 45 years in prison if found guilty of a conspiracy to sexually exploit vulnerable girls. His death behind bars, 35 days after he was arrested, was deemed suicide.
Prosecutors contend that between 2002 and 2005, Epstein and his employees—including his right-hand woman and “main girlfriend” Ghislaine Maxwell—brought the girls to his mansion on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and his compound in Palm Beach, pressuring them to perform naked massages and sex acts and sent them out to recruit other girls.
Throughout the course of their relationship, Epstein and Maxwell called a number of very powerful men their acquaintances, including former president Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, and former president Donald Trump. Both Trump and Clinton say they broke off all contact with Epstein a decade or more ago, and Trump has reportedly claimed he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago.
With the impending release of 187 names identifying Epstein’s associates, or people who had flown on his planes, Aaron Rodgers—without evidence—claimed Jimmy Kimmel would be on the list. Here’s what we know.

Aaron Rodgers made a claim against Jimmy Kimmel while appearing on the Pat McAfee show on December 2, 2023, litigiously suggesting that Kimmel would be on the list of Epstein associates, which was wildly circulated on Twitter. “There’s a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, really hoping that doesn’t come out,” Rodgers said, speaking from what appeared to be his wine cellar. “I’ll tell you what, if that list comes out, I definitely will be popping some sort of bottle.”
Kimmel didn’t take long to respond, tweeting: “Dear Aa—hole: for the record, I’ve not met, flown with, visited, or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein, nor will you find my name on any ‘list’ other than the clearly-phony nonsense that soft-brained wackos like yourself can’t seem to distinguish from reality. Your reckless words put my family in danger. Keep it up and we will debate the facts further in court.”
McAfee, for his part, issued an apology over Rodgers’ suggestion. “Some things obviously people get very pissed off about, especially when they’re that serious allegations,” McAfee said, per the New York Times. “So we apologize for being a part of it. I can’t wait to hear what Aaron has to say about it. Hopefully those two will just be able to settle this, you know, not work-wise, but be able to chitchat and move along.”
The sealed Epstein documents were part of a defamation lawsuit brought by one of their accusers, Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was sexually assaulted multiple times by Prince Andrew in London and on a private Caribbean Island owned by Epstein. Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Andrew in the state of New York, which he settled out of court for a reported $16 million.
In many cases, the names in the documents “really are of innocent people. It’s people who may have been employed, it’s people who may have gone to dinner or to a cocktail party at Jeffrey Epstein’s home,” said CBS News legal analyst Rikki Klieman. “It is not necessarily naming people who have engaged in actions that were anything like the deplorable actions of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”
“It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support,” Andrew said in a statement at the same time. “I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.” The prince also said, “I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations if required.”

During an interview with the BBC in November 2019, Prince Andrew said he “regretted” his connection to Epstein but had no memory of ever meeting Giuffre. “I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever,” he said and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. He stepped back from royal life shortly after the BBC interview aired, asking his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II for permission to withdraw from public duties.
In 2022, Andrew was stripped of his military titles after a judge ruled a sexual abuse civil lawsuit against him could proceed, which he settled. “With The Queen’s approval and agreement, the Duke of York’s military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen. The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen,” the palace said in a statement.
