Kate Middleton Didn’t Tell Harry & Meghan About Her Cancer Diagnosis Because They ‘Can’t Be Trusted’

Their relationship has been rocky at best for years, and now a royal expert has explained why Kate Middleton and Prince William didn’t tell Harry and Meghan about the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis.

Harry reportedly found out about his sister-in-law’s medical news like the rest of the world—via the TV. “It is understood that Kate’s cancer diagnosis was not shared in advance with Harry and Meghan,” The Times of London reported on March 23, 2024. “Several sources confirm that there were no such conversations and it is thought Harry found out about Kate’s diagnosis from television, at the same time as the public.”

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that there’s a good reason for Harry and Meghan being kept in the dark: “There’s a deep rift between the brothers – that we know,” he said. “We also know that they haven’t apparently spoken in many months, and the reason, of course, is that for some four years, they’ve caused endless problems to the royal family and so they can’t be trusted.”

He continued: “William hasn’t trusted Harry and Meghan and I mean with good reason. We know with Oprah, the Harry and Meghan program for Netflix, Spare, and then with the interviews surrounding his book. There was no reason to monetize their links with the royal family.”

Prince William Responds To Wife Kate Middleton's Cancer Diagnosis

Fitzwilliams concluded: “The trouble is that’s the only thing that appears to have made a lot of money for them. That raises other questions as to what they’ll be doing in the future.”

Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis on Friday March 22, with an emotional video statement released via the @KensingtonPalace Twitter. “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,” Kate shared. “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

Following her announcement, Prince Harry—along with his wife Meghan Markle—issued a statement wishing Kate well. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the couple shared at the time. Later reports also confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had privately reached out to Kate.
