A relative of the photographer watches television, as Catherine, The Princess of Wales announces that she is receiving a preventative course of chemotherapy for cancer on March 22, 2024 in London, England. The Princess of Wales had abdominal surgery earlier this year and has revealed that cancer has subsequently been found. She said she has been receiving chemotherapy and asked for privacy for her and her family.

Another royal disclaimer. Getty Images has flagged Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis video on their website. The photo archive obtained the video and it’s raising eyebrows on the validity of the Princess of Wales’ announcement.

The clip on Getty Images includes an editor’s note that states, “This Handout clip was provided by a third-party organization and may not adhere to Getty Images’ editorial policy.” A Getty Images spokesperson told People and Vanity Fair, “Getty Images includes a standard editors note to handout content provided by third party organizations.” The footage is credited to BBC Studios/Kensington Palace.

Though the conspiracy rumors have been squashed by Kate’s announcement, some Royal fans are still suspicious about the whereabouts of the Princess of Wales. “If Kate Middleton wasn’t a member of the Royal Family do you think the police will have been called in by now?” one fan posted on X.

Kate Middleton revealed that she has cancer in a moving video on March 22, 2024. “I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I’ve been recovering from surgery,” the Princess of Wales said in a video posted on Kensington Palace‘s social media. “It is being an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family. But I’ve had a fantastic medical team who’ve taken great care of me for which I’m so grateful.”

“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

She also talked about the impact it had on her family. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”

She praised her husband William as “a great source of comfort and reassurance”, Kate added: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”Honoring those who have been diagnosed with cancer, Kate ends the video with a hopeful tone. “While I complete my treatments. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I’m able. But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery. At this time, I’m also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer, For everyone facing this disease in whatever form.”

The Getty Images video news echoes an earlier instance of how Kate Middleton’s edited photo was recalled by various news sources. On March 10, 2024, Kate Middleton posted a photo for Mother’s Day. It features Kate in the middle while hugging and embracing her three kids, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte. “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” Kate Middleton wrote in the caption. “Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C”

Many eagle-eyed fans saw the edits on the photo such as Prince Louis’ fingers and around Princess Charlotte’s dress. Kate Middleton issued an apology on social media for the mistakes. “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C,” she wrote on X.

Newspapers like The Associated Press had recalled the picture due to the inconsistencies. AP said that “the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards. For instance, it contained an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand with the sleeve of her sweater.”
