The Real Reason George & Amal Clooney’s Friends Are ‘Wondering if They’ll Make It’ as a Couple
He was once considered Hollywood’s most eligible, desirable bachelor. When news broke in 2014 of their marriage, fans had high hopes they’d be a forever couple. Ten years later, sources say friends are worried about whether George and Amal Clooney will stay together amid their increasingly busy schedules.
On June 12, 2024, In Touch reported that “they are in two very different worlds 90% of the day. They’re leading separate lives,” as they approach their 10th anniversary, per a source. “They seem like the picture of bliss on the red carpet, and of course, they always gush about each other in public, but friends are wondering if they’ll make it. A lot of Hollywood couples don’t.”
“The twins’ happiness is their top priority. A divorce would be a nightmare,” the insider continued, adding, “They are trying to make more of an effort to spend quality time together. But obviously, she’ll still be traveling a lot, and he won’t be able to get away as easily. So unfortunately they’ll just be leading separate lives again.” (Married in 2014, George and Amal share twins Ella and Alexander, whom they welcomed in June 2017.)
The couple has been busy indeed. George directed The Boys in the Boat, acted in the film Wolfs with Brad Pitt, and began filming another movie with Adam Sandler in Italy earlier this year. Amal, meanwhile, has been spending a lot of time at The Hague where, among other things, she’s evaluating evidence of suspected war crimes in Israel and Gaza.
