For those who don’t know, Sabrina and Barry have been dating for quite some time now. According to E! News, they made their first official appearance at the Grammys afterparty hosted by W Magazine—but their paths had actually crossed even earlier, with both attending Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. By December 2023, the pair were all but confirmed to be an item when the Daily Mail reported on what they described as a “romantic” dinner date in Los Angeles. The publication shared paparazzi photos of the Saltburn actor and the “Feather” singer walking to their car after leaving a restaurant.
Their relationship seemed to progress, with a source telling People a few weeks later that a museum outing in LA “definitely seemed like a date,” noting that the pair looked “cute” and even “shared a little kiss.” Since then, Sabrina and Barry have made more public appearances together, including at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty and at the Met Gala in May 2024, where they made their official red carpet debut as a couple.
All in all, things seem to have been going pretty strong—so what’s up with these breakup rumors?
Sabrina and Barry broke up because of their career and their schedules. People reported that they called it quits, “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” a source told the outlet.
Amid backlash from fans, Barry Keoghan addressed the breakup. “I can only sit and take so much. My name is being dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to.”
He said he had to come forward because there are “too many lines being crossed” and he deleted Instagram because he “can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.”
During their relationship, Sabrina spoke pretty warmly about working with Barry on this project. In an August 2024 interview with Variety, she shared: “He loved the song. He’s obsessed with the lyrics, and I’m so grateful for that. I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation. So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.”
As a source told Us Weekly in March 2024, “They really took things slow at first, but the relationship is going strong. They are both very casual people and enjoy being low-key in their downtime. They aren’t putting too much pressure on things, and Sabrina loves that Barry understands she is extremely busy with her work commitments right now.”
