Chrissy Teigen Chose the Sex of Her Baby During IVF —and Somehow, Her Haters Think That’s Not OK

Some day very, very soon, Chrissy Teigen is going to be giving birth to a baby girl—and ever since announcing her pregnancy back in October, she’s been vocal about the struggles with infertility she went through beforehand and her experience with IVF.
In an interview published today, the model—and newly minted cookbook author—opened up to People about her decision to select a female embryo and have her first child with husband John Legend be a girl:
“I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me. It excited me to see … just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond. A boy will come along. We’ll get there too, so it’s not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa—it’s crazy!”
Sweet, right?
Unfortunately, while Teigen’s pregnancy has been a win for her fans on social media as far as hilarious baby tweets and bump-related Instagrams go—it’s also provoked an ugly breed of pregnancy trolls on all her accounts. Of course, in this case, she didn’t take the unprompted criticism lying down:
