Hallelujah: Ben Affleck’s Revolting Back Tattoo Is Apparently Fake

The actor admitted that revolting back tat is fake.

The back tattoo seen round the world—that hideous, massive, colorful phoenix spanning the entire width of Ben Affleck‘s back—is, praise be to God, not real. Or so he says.

During an interview with Extra’s Mario Lopez about his new movie, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” Ben said the multicolored eyesore was “fake for a movie,” adding “I actually do have a number of tattoos…but I try to have them in places where you don’t have to do a lot of cover up…they get sort of addictive, tattoos, after a while.”

It kind of seems unlikely Ben would lie about it being fake on a national platform like “Extra,” but why did he wait this long? We’ve been laughing at you for months, B! Also, even though he’s going through a divorce with Jennifer Garner, wouldn’t the mother of his three children—who he stills seems to hang out with regularly, if the tabloids are any indication—know the tat wasn’t real? Instead, she made fun of it in her buzzed-about Vanity Fair profile, saying “bless his heart” and “And I am the ashes?’ ‘I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”

Even Jennifer Lopez, another ex, told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” that she thinks the tat is “awful” and admitted it fit into to the actor’s body-art repetoire. “It has too many colors. His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn’t be so colorful. They should be cooler.”

Ben was first spotted with the phoenix last December on the set of “Live By Night” co-starring Zoe Saldana, Scott Eastwood, Sienna Miller, and Elle Fanning. No word yet if a revolting tattoo storyline features prominently.
