How Bette Midler Became The Kardashians’ Most Unlikely Critic
Bette Midler might be 70, but that doesn’t mean that the iconic entertainer will be sitting down, shutting up, or quitting Twitter any time soon. Despite the fact that she’s been lauded for her golden pipes and cult classic roles (Hocus Pocus! The First Wives Club! Beaches!) for most of her career, Midler’s been grabbing attention of late for her pithy, unapologetic observations about a certain ubiquitous reality TV family.
For starters, when Kim Kardashian West posted the nude selfie we still can’t stop hearing about, Midler took to Twitter to throw shade as only she could.
Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen,

And while some accused Midler of slut shaming, others saw the obvious humor in the tweet; in fact, some celebrities like Chloe Grace Moretz and Pink even chimed in with their opinions about the nude selfie as well, sparked by Midler’s quip. As expected, Kim escalated the situation by trying to clap back and framing Midler’s humorous hot take as an attack on her sexuality and personhood.
The reality TV starlet even went so far as to tweet at Midler that she was a “fake friend” and tweeted this salty response.

To which, Midler responded with some feisty tweets of her own, noting that while “everyone can take a selfie, not everyone can take a joke.”

Now, it appears that Midler definitely has more thoughts about the Kardashian family — specifically the very confusing family situation that is Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna‘s engagement (but honestly, who doesn’t in this instance?) — and has decided to bless us with this tweet.

Some people have attributed her snark to the aftermath of the nude selfie debacle. But we have a feeling that the divine Miss M has been disenchanted with the Kardashian over-saturation for a while. Remember when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel to sing a series of Kim Kardashian’s tweets? The jazzy performance revealed deep sentiments from Kim’s Twitter that ranged from “Ugh, I hate falling asleep with my makeup on” to “I never ever thought I would say this…but I’m wearing flats today.”

Whether her activities are an attempt to remain in the current conversation or really is a response to the tabloid fatigue we’re all feeling, we’re going to take an educated guess and predict Bette won’t be tuning into the new season of Keeping up with the Kardashians.
