The Wicked movie, an adaption of the hit Broadway musical, has officially arrived in theaters nationwide. If you leave your seat at the end of the film itching for more, you may be inclined to look up tickets to see the live performance in all its glory. The musical has had a long-standing run at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and has become a must-see for local theater enthusiasts and out-of-towners alike.
Due to the movie’s release, tickets to the Broadway show have increased in demand and are quickly selling, especially for dates close to the holiday’s. If you’re on the hunt to snag seats for you and family or friends, we’ve broken down the cheapest ways to purchase tickets below. Take note: If you are looking to score tickets for any of the remaining shows in 2024, you’ll want to act fast. Luckily, there’s plenty of seats left for performances in the new year.
Since Wicked has ongoing performances from now through 2025 scheduled, prices vary depending on show date, seat selection and ticket site. That said, your best chances at scoring cheap tickets doesn’t necessarily lie in grabbing seats near the back of the theatre; prices for seats in the rear or middle of the mezzanine are on par with front and center orchestra seats for some shows, and in some cases, are even more expensive.
For remaining shows in 2024, you can grab tickets for as low as $150 on both Stubhub and Vivid Seats for select dates. For shows in 2025, tickets go as low as around $130.
Ready to see this iconic show in person? Here’s the deal with getting tickets. First, you’ll want to check out the show’s official website to see if they still have tickets available for your dates. NYC locals can also try their luck in person at the Gershwin Theatre official box office for rush tickets, which is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 12pm to 7pm.
Can’t get rush tickets? Weekday shows are your next best friend—they’re usually easier to snag and won’t destroy your wallet like weekend tickets might. If you strike out with official sources, resale sites like StubHub, Vivid Seats, and SeatGeek are your best bet. Just know that these tickets usually come with a pretty hefty markup, especially since the show has recently increased in demand. Keep on reading ahead for our tips to purchase trusted resale tickets.

Mark your calendars for when your schedule aligns, because Wicked the Musical has plenty of shows running now through the end of 2025 (and likely beyond). If you’d rather skip the crowds and hefty ticket prices, you could pencil in a show sometime late this winter.
Wicked the Musical offers evening viewings at 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. most weeknights and weekends, with 2 p.m. matinees available on both Saturdays and Sundays. You may find the rare matinee show on a weekday, which could be one of your best bets at scoring cheaper tickets.
You’ll find Elphaba and Glinda live in action at the Gershwin Theatre, located at 222 West 51st Street, on the second floor of the Paramount Plaza office building in Midtown, Manhattan. Built in 1972, it’s considered one of the “newer” theaters in Broadway, with approximately 1,900 seats available, making it one of the largest, too.
The show clocks in at 2 hours and 45 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission break. It’s recommended for children 8 years-old and up, with no children under the age of 5 permitted.
Leading the current Wicked the Musical cast is Mary Kate Morrissey in the role of Elphaba, who previously starred as Sheila in the musical Hair and Janis in the Mean Girls musical. She performs opposite Alexandra Socha, who made her Broadway debut in the rock musical Spring Awakening in May 2008, and has since starred in Brighton Beach Memoirs, Death Takes a Holiday and Head over Heels.
