Is it a recession indicator that it’s next to impossible to buy a Labubu? The fuzzy collectibles (created by artist Kasing Lung and based on the book The Monsters Trilogy) are the latest status symbol du jour, with everyone from influencers to suburban moms wearing them as bag charms, often seen dangling from a $2,100 Neverfull or equally expensive “it” bag. It’s bizarre and adorable, and also frustrating—they’re so high in-demand, that you can’t find any Labubus actually in stock. And if you do, it’s very possible that it’s actually a fake (a Lafufu). As a shopping editor, it’s truly the consumerism plot twist I did not see coming in 2025.
Fret not, though, because the next big bag charm trend has already arrived, and as of today (June 6), the products are fully stocked and available at Walmart. Introducing…Crybabies.
Crybabies, like Labubus, are a Pop Mart mainstay and are collectible little toys that come in the form of keychains and figurines. Created in 2016 by artist Molly Yllom, the dolls look like they’ve just burst into tears, with their signature teary-eyed facial expressions. Why the tears? “Everybody cries sometimes. It’s OK to cry,” Yllom once shared with Pop Mart. Honestly, I feel this so deeply in my bones—I must have several of them.
Crybabies also come in various different characters (20 total, including collabs with The Powerpuff Girls and Disney), and limited edition collectibles. Right now, the easiest way (and most affordable) to buy one is through Walmart. You can also find some versions on Urban Outfitters and Amazon. But hurry—the last time I foolishly waited to buy a trending bag charm, I ended up empty handed.
UO sells a Blind Box figure too—unboxing a mystery package to find out which character you get is half the fun.
