Thank God We Have This Handy Infographic to Tell Us Where the Most-Attractive People Live

A "study" tell us where the hottest (and ugliest) people reside.

“Mutual attractiveness is the foundation of most successful relationships,” begins a “study” (we use that term loosely) conducted by Clover, a dating app with a questionable amount of name recognition. We’re almost positive that the statement is blatantly untrue, but you’ve gotta do whatever it takes to sell an infographic that maps out the most attractive cities and states in America versus the least. The basis of this “study”? We have no idea.

The folks behind the app claim to have developed a “proprietary scoring system” that “accurately assesses a person’s level of attractiveness,” and used said system to determine which areas across the United States had the best-looking users. Yep, that means that all the “data” was gleaned only from individuals who happen to use Clover, which is already enough to raise a few questions.

As far as female hotness goes, the East Coast came out on top, with six of the top eight cities and states residing just off the Atlantic. Clover claims that women from Manhattan (see: terribly ugly Manhattanite Gisele Bündchen, with husband Tom Brady), in particular, are two times more attractive than the national average, which begs the classic New Yorker shakedown: Are they really from Manhattan, or do they just live here? The difference is vast.

Midwestern guys take the cake for Most Attractive Men, with five of the top eight states right in the middle of the country. And men from Jacksonville, Florida, are said to be 70 percent more attractive than the national average, which is maybe the most arbitrary “statistic” we’ve ever heard.

And the uglies? Well, you’ll find the women in the South, and the men, apparently, in California. Interesting, given that in our experience, California is pretty much a hub of sex appeal. That allegation alone is enough to make us question the accuracy of the entire study. On that note: This entire thing is bullshit.
