Paws up Monsters! Lady Gaga is back with a pop album that transcends time and space. The pop queen just released her highly anticipated sixt album Mayhem, and one song particulary stands out with its popish ferver.
“I wanted to traverse old ground while breaking new ground, which I think is hard to do,” Gaga told Rolling Stone about writing Mayhem. “There are a few moments on the album where some people might say, ‘Oh, that reminds me of this,’ because I do have a style, but I made an effort musically to push myself to a new place.”
“How Bad Do U Want Me” is the ninth track off the album, written by Lady Gaga, her fiance Michael Polansky, watt, and Cirkut, and fans often compared to a Taylor Swift song for it’s structure and inflections. Even Swifties theorized that Swift was featured in the background vocals because of how similar it is to her signature sounds. Gaga sings about how her lover is infatuated with another version of herself, but she can’t help to only show off her true authentic self.

One fan said that the song “sounds like Ally from A Star Is Born singing to Bradley Cooper and Taylor’s nachos in Reputation were stolen and used here.” The song could also be interpretted to be about her relationship with Bradley Cooper. The first verse could be about his relationship problems with Irina Shayk when the two were filming A Star Is Born. She also references getting a tattoo in the third verse, and Gaga had a tribute tattoo to her role in the movie by inking the lyrics to “La Vie En Rose.” It has sly references to kissing in real life or making a scene and wardrobe that might reflect her character Ally in the movie.
