The Eras tour ended less than a year ago, but Swifties are antsy to know if there will be a tour tied to Taylor Swift‘s newest album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Taylor Swift announced her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights. The singer took all her experiences on her record-breaking Eras Tour and used it as inspiration for her album. “This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” she recalled. “It just comes from, like, the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life […] and so that effervescence has come through on this record. And like you said, bangers.”
Like every TS album that features bangers (with the exception of those released during the COVID-19 pandemic), she will likely have a tour tied to the release. But what do we know of it so far?
Taylor Swift hasn’t announced any details about a tour that’s tied to The Life of a Showgirl. If she was going to tour, her performance and scale would probably not be on the extent of the Eras Tour.
One very popular fan theory is that Taylor would be planning a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere. The iconic and modern venue has been a fixture for popular acts like the Backstreet Boys and U2 because of the immersive 160,000-square-foot wraparound LED display. One fan wrote on Threads, “What if, instead of a tour, she sets up a Vegas residency at the Sphere and makes us come to her this time. Would certainly fit the theme of the new album, The Life of a Showgirl. ❤️🔥”
A source initially told The Sun that her team was eyeing the new venue for her upcoming performances. “Taylor’s team has been talking about Vegas gigs in private for a while, including at a dinner a few months back in Nashville with other music managers,” the source said. “Given how unique Sphere is from a production perspective, fans will no doubt be foaming at the mouth to see how Taylor could potentially use the venue.
However, Puck News reported that the venue has no plans to house Taylor Swift, quoting a representative with the venue: “While we love and respect Taylor Swift, we are not in conversations with her team about a residency at Sphere.”
It’s still pretty early in the album-promoting cycle for her to announce concrete plans for a tour. USA Today reported that the average number of days between an album drop and a tour announcement is 22 days. With The Life of a Showgirl dropping on Oct. 3, the singer will likely announce a tour in the upcoming days in October or November. But who knows? The announcement can come from anywhere at any time.
