Did Taylor Swift just drop a subtle easter egg on Reputation? Some Swifties reported that the Tortured Poet’s Department singer had changed some of the lyrics on her 2017 album.
Apple Music uploaded Dolby Atmos versions of Reputation on the streaming platform, and many eagle-eyed Swifties had noticed that there were two lyric changes on the song list. Not only that, but the changes landed on the same day as Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Disney+ documentary. Coincidence? We think not.
Some Swifties are hoping that the changes are one step closer to getting Reputation (Taylor’s Version). “My clown theory is that we’re getting Reputation vault tracks and originally written/unedited lyrics updated on album tracks,” one die-hard Swiftie wrote on X. “Probably recorded with Max Martin and Shellback while working on [The Life of a Showgirl] because Taylor Swift is a genius business woman artist queen?????”
As a reminder, Taylor wrote in her letter when she regained control of her masters that she wasn’t planning on releasing Reputation (Taylor’s Version). “The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it,” she wrote. “All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief. To be perfectly honest, it’s the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off. There will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch.”
But it’s been six months, is this a sign that we’re getting the re-recorded versions soon?
In the original version of “I Did Something Bad,” Taylor sings, “If a man talks s—t, then I owe him nothin’ / I don’t regret it one bit ’cause he had it comin’.” However, she sings in the new version, “If a man talks shit, then I owe him nothin’ / And if he calls me a bitch, then he had it coming.” A spicy comparison, we might say!
She also made a subtle change in “Delicate.” She sings a slightly more explicit version: “Goddamn, never seen that color blue” in place of “Oh, damn, never seen that color blue.”
[Verse 1]
I never trust a narcissist, but they love me
So I play ’em like a violin
And I make it look, oh, so easy
‘Cause for every lie I tell them, they tell me three
This is how the world works
Now all he thinks about is me
[Pre-Chorus]
I can feel the flames on my skin
Crimson red paint on my lips
If a man talks shit, then I owe him nothin’
And if he calls me a bitch, then he had it coming
[Chorus]
They say I did somethin’ bad
Then why’s it feel so good?
They say I did somethin’ bad
But why’s it feel so good?
Most fun I ever had
And I’d do it over and over and over again if I could
It just felt so good, good
[Post-Chorus]
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Da-da, da, da
[Verse 2]
I never trust a playboy, but they love me
So I fly ’em all around the world
And I let them think they saved me
They never see it comin’, what I do next
This is how the world works
You gotta leave before you get left
[Pre-Chorus]
I can feel the flames on my skin
He says, “Don’t throw away a good thing”
But if he drops my name, then I owe him nothin’
And if he spends my change, then he had it comin’
[Chorus]
They say I did somethin’ bad (Da-da)
Then why’s it feel so good?
They say I did somethin’ bad
But why’s it feel so good?
Most fun I ever had
And I’d do it over and over and over again if I could
It just felt so good, good
[Post-Chorus]
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
(It just felt so good)
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Da-da, da, da

[Bridge]
They’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one
They got their pitchforks and proof, their receipts and reasons
They’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one
So light me up (Light me up), light me up (Light me up)
Light me up, go ahead and light me up (Light me up)
Light me up (Light me up), light me up (Light me up)
Light me up (Light me up), light me up
[Chorus]
They say I did somethin’ bad (Oh)
Then why’s it feel so good? (So good)
They say I did somethin’ bad
But why’s it feel so (Good) good?
Most fun I ever had (Most fun I ever had)
And I’d do it over and over and over again if I could
It just felt so good (Good), good
[Post-Chorus]
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da (Bad)
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Oh, they say I did somethin’ bad (They say I did somethin’ bad)
Ra-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-di-da-da
Then why’s it feel so good, good?
[Outro]
So good (Bad), why’s it feel so good?
Why’s it feel, why’s it feel so good? (Bad)
It just felt so good, good
