While closing last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, host Miley Cyrus announced that not only was she bringing out a brand-new album, but that all the fresh music would be completely free.
Called “Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz,” the songs are available for you to listen to at MileyCyrusAndHerDeadPetz.com. As its name suggests, the album features a song about her dead fish, called “Pablow the Blowfish,” and another track about her dead dog. Other titles include “I’m So Drunk” and “Bang Me Box,” and artists such as Ariel Pink, Big Sean and Sarah Barthel of Phantogram feature on the record.
Cyrus revealed to the New York Times that thanks to the success of her “Bangerz” pop album, she’s now able to show off a new, non-commercial side with the release of this latest album. “I can just do what I want to do, and make the music I want to make,” she said.
The project cost around $50,000 to produce, and Miley’s label RCA didn’t even hear the music until it was finished.
After debuting the new album at the VMAs, the pop star took to Twitter to invite her followers to check out the new music, tweeting: “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz out now fo freeeeeee mothaaaa fuckazzz! Check dat $hit out @ http://www.mileycyrusandherdeadpetz.com.”
