Attention, Please: The Lineup for NYC’s New ‘East Coast Coachella’ Is Pretty Amazing
It’s not 2010 anymore, and music festivals are now more likely to set off a collective groan than a flood of ticket purchases. This has been particularly true of Panorama, a proposed “Coachella-goes-East” from the same promoters responsible for the massively popular Indio, California, gathering, after it was confirmed back in January. Does NYC really need another big summer music festival in addition to June’s Governors Ball, which also takes place on Randalls Island? (Let’s not even talk about Electric Zoo.)
Well, about that: The three-day lineup for Panorama was just released, and it’s got protestors eating their words on the spot. Arcade Fire will headline Friday, July 22, with Kendrick Lamar and LCD Soundsystem on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. That’s right—LCD Soundsystem will be playing their first NYC show (they’re playing at Coachella proper, too) since their final concerts at Madison Square Garden in 2011. That alone should be enough to win over just about any prematurely jaded, flower-crown-hating late-twenties Brooklynite.
Also on the roster: FKA twigs, Broken Social Scene, DJ Khaled, Sufjan Stevens, Foals, Sia, A$AP Rocky, Kurt Vile, and many, many more. Against all odds, there’s something for pretty much every music lover here—but will it be enough to make those $389 three-day passes, on sale starting this Friday, worth it?
