During his Coachella set two weeks ago, EDM producer Zedd surprised the crowd by bringing Kesha out to sing a new version of his song “True Colors.” The attendees went nuts over her rendition and last week, he made it official, sharing on Insta that the two were in the studio to work on a proper version of the track.

The summer-ready remake (the original version of “True Colors” is sung by a different vocalist) hit the Web in full Friday morning, but this isn’t your average hit-and-quit banger, it’s a full-on anthem with booming instrumentation and raw vocal power.

“I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes,” she fiercely proclaims. “Let me show you my, my true colors. It ain’t your rainbow.”

In case you were wondering how the release is legal—let’s not forget Kesha’s still bound to Sony’s Kemosabe Records imprint after losing a court battle following claims of sexual abuse by producer Dr. Luke—it’s a joint effort through Zedd’s label, Interscope, and Kemosabe / RCA, where Kesha currently resides—a fact that Luke snarkily solidified through a Twitter post yesterday.

But whatever, this isn’t about him—this is her moment (that’s been delayed for three years—the last time we had new music from the pop star was in 2013 with Pitbull collab “Timber.”) Check out the powerful tune above.
