Adele Chastises a Fan for Filming Her Instead of Being in the Moment at Her Show

Last night at a show in Verona, Italy, Adele told a fan the exact thing the rest of us are thinking at pretty much every concert we attend these days: “Stop filming me with a video camera” and “enjoy it in real life.” Real talk!

“Yeah, I want to tell that lady as well, can you stop filming me with a video camera, because I’m really here in real life,” Adele said between songs. “You can enjoy it in real life, rather than through your camera,” she said, pointing to a woman who was evidently busy capturing the show for posterity. Her request was met with laughs, claps, and cheers from the audience.

“Can you take your tripod down?” Adele continued. “This isn’t a DVD, this is a real show, and I’d really like you to enjoy my show, because there’s lots of people outside that couldn’t come in.” Though she didn’t literally throw down the mic after her proclamation, she gave the girl a withering look that was the facial expression equivalent of a mic drop. And then she turned around and went on with the show like the megastar she is. Props, Adele. It’s annoying enough as it is to watch a show in the company of hundreds of iPhones, but it’s even worse when someone actually sets up a full-on tripod and starts filming away. High five. Or, should we say, 🙏.
