Is the fairytale over? Tae-hwan and Ji-yeon seemed like a match made in heaven in Single’s Inferno Season 4. However, when all the curtains were pulled back, not everything was what it seemed.
Ji-yeon and Taehwan had a cute date in Paradise. They ice skated together, had dinner, and laughed the night away. In a confessional, Ji-yeon provided details that weren’t shown during the first edit. Tae-hwan didn’t seem to care about her or left her behind when ice skating and didn’t seem interested in her conversations. Things took a turning point when Tae-hwan said that he preferred to be single as a DJ when Ji-yeon explained that she wanted to start a family. Ji-yeon confessed to him that it made her feel uneasy, and the two worked it out.

When faced with their final decision, Ji-yeon decided to give Tae-hwan a chance outside of Inferno. “I was unsure of certain things but I wanted to trust his word,” she says in a confessional. “Seeing him being so devoted to me throughout this experience without looking elsewhere, that was what drew me to him.”
Tae-hwan and Ji-yeon haven’t commented on whether they’re still together or not. When FastPaper pointed out that Single’s Inferno host Dex had a liking towards her during the show and if she had anything to say to him, she responded, “Thank you for liking me. I’m waiting here.”
Some netizens are confused about their dynamic. One fan on Reddit said that their ending felt strange. “jiyeon wasn’t okay with how he spoke, behaved and she had even confronted him about it,” they wrote. “Even the replies she got from taehwan on confronting, he expression, didn’t look like she was contempt with his answer. Their ending feels more like forced?”
Another fan agreed, “I thought Jiyeon was smart enough to turn down Taehwan. But she had a good point on loyalty. The thing is, she would have better choices outside. The loyalty and only one guy choosing her got to her and clouded her feelings + decision-making.”
