Anthony Mackie Has ‘Trust’ Issues Dating as a Celebrity—Meet His Ex-Wife
Captain America: Brave New World will give Anthony Mackie a chance to step into the spotlight as one of the most recognizable superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mackie, who has played Sam Wilson in the MCU in 7 movies so far (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: Brave New World) and a TV show (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) takes on the mantle from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

Who’s Anthony Mackie’s Ex-Wife, Sheletta Chapital?
Mackie and his ex-wife, Sheletta Chapital, were childhood sweethearts. The two were together for a long time before marrying in 2014 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. They ultimately divorced in 2018, but the ex-couple still has a lot that ties them together, as they share four children—whose ages range from 8 to 15. Chapital, who is a business development director, lives in New Orleans with her four kids. Mackie makes a point to spend as much time with them in his hometown, depending on his schedule.
But Mackie doesn’t like his personal life being in the spotlight, and that includes his kids. “I’ve always kept my personal life out of the business,” he told Esquire in a new interview. “I don’t allow people to photograph my kids. I don’t bring my kids around. I want my kids to be normal.”
And it seems he’s achieved that if his words about his son’s reaction to his Marvel stardom are anything to take into consideration. “They’re pretty much really not into me as an actor at all,” Mackie also said. “It’s shockingly funny how much they couldn’t care less about me being in movies.”
Mackie would love to find another life partner, but as he told People, that becomes harder when you’re famous. “How do you trust someone? How do you put yourself in a position to be vulnerable? How do you know what someone really [wants] from you when all you want is to just be loved and appreciated? What does that look like?” he said, adding that he’s “older” and “not on the apps.”
So, for now, Mackie is focusing on work and on spending time with his kids. And though things may change one day, he seems to be just fine with that.
