There’s no drama quite like Love is Blind drama. And though the show’s Season 8, filmed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, hasn’t really lived up to the Tyler sperm baby drama from Season 7, it’s had its share of moments that have left fans talking. From Mason and Madison’s cream pie conversation to Taylor and Daniel’s Instagram conflict, there’s never a dull moment while watching this show.
Love is Blind is hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey and focuses on a group of singles from different cities every season who commit to dating in pods without ever seeing each other. If they form a connection in the pods, they have to get engaged without ever seeing who’s on the other side. After that, the couples who choose to move on with the experiment will have only weeks to decide if they want to go ahead with the wedding, or if love wasn’t actually blind.

It’s, all in all, a pretty wild premise, but it has actually worked for a number of couples. Love Is Blind actually has a better rate of successful couples than The Bachelor, and has spawned international versions in the UK, Japan, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Abu Dhabi.
The first six episodes of Season 8 ended with a confrontation between Taylor and Daniel, with Taylor telling the camera that she thought Daniel had followed her on Instagram and unfollowed her before the show. If this is true, it means Daniel might have known what she looked like all along. But what happened with Daniel’s Christmas Instagram on Love is Blind? We explain.
Did Daniel truly follow Taylor and then unfollow her before the show aired? Love Is Blind leaves the answer on a cliffhanger, but internet sleuths have been quick to locate the picture that aroused Taylor’s suspicions in the first place. The Instagram photo, one of Daniel in front of a chimney at Christmas, holding a book and a cat, seems like the same vibe as what Taylor described—a picture in front of a Christmas tree, legs crossed, holding a drink. But there are key differences that Daniel pointed out. He also denied multiple times that he had followed her. And there’s been a joke this season about how fans can’t tell the men on the show apart, which might end up becoming really funny if it turns out Taylor just confused Daniel with someone else.
Taylor spoke about the controversy with Glamour and gave more context into why the possibility he’d followed her on Instagram was such a big deal to her, saying, “The primary concern was that he knew what I looked like during the experiment. I’m guilty, too, of judging people off their looks and I’m sure that’s been done to me. I wanted that to be completely removed from this entire situation. Hence, Love Is Blind. So the thought of that very premise being compromised was terrifying to me.”

However, Taylor also made it clear that she came to this conclusion at a very vulnerable time. “It just scared me. We’re operating on very limited information at the time. We don’t have our devices, we don’t have our people to talk to and bounce ideas off of. We’re running on minimal sleep and we’re running on adrenaline. There were so many factors playing into it,” she explained.
Does this mean Taylor is wrong and Daniel didn’t follow her on Instagram only to unfollow her? Is Daniel right and Taylor is just confusing him with someone else? We will find out when new episodes of Love is Blind premiere.
