‘Everyone’s a Suspect’ in Lottie’s Shocking Death in Yellowjackets—But Here’s Who Really Could Have Done It
Another death has landed in Yellowjackets. This time, it might be an even bigger impact on the group in the present day.
In the episode, the younger Yellowjackets put Coach Ben on trial to see if he was really the person who burned down the cabin. The older Yellowjackets timeline shows Misty trying to live up as investigator. But all eyes are on Lottie who appeared to act a little bit suspicious by rehearsing an apology and taking lots of money out of the bank.
Episode four of Season 3 ended in a shocking cliffhanger. Lottie appears to have died. Her body was found at the bottom of basement stairs. She’s surrounded by burnt-out candles and there’s blood coming from her head that is very reminiscent of her visions.
Who killed Lottie in Yellowjackets?
Lottie’s death still remains a mystery, but in true Yellowjackets lore, there could be more than meets the eye. One suspect that’s been flooding Reddit has been Shauna. Redditors believe that
Shauna drove up to Manhattan to get the cat and could have definitely taken a hit on Lottie.
Other theories include the theory that Lottie died by suicide. “She’s shown doing something at a bank, gleefully getting her affairs in order,” one person commented on Reddit. She’s last shown breaking down mentally in front of a mirror. And then her body is discovered in a recreation of the stairwell from her visions. She was already suicidal during 2×09 at her compound and nearly drank the poison on purpose.”
It wouldn’t stray far from other deaths in the series. Travis appeared to have died by suicide in episode 3 in Season 1. But it was revealed that he accidentally hung himself while trying to confront the darkness. And who was present during it? Lottie.
Lottie’s actress Simone Kessel gave a candid interview about how the death of her character affected her. “I was pretty brokenhearted, because it felt like it had come to an end just when I felt Lottie was coming into her own,” she told Variety. “I was excited that Season 3 would take her somewhere interesting, and unfortunately, they just decided that storyline was no longer. I guess Lottie’s death then serves as an investigation for Misty to be Citizen Detective, and discover how Lottie passes, what happened — and everyone’s a suspect.”
Though fans wouldn’t have to wait too long, since it’ll be revealed in the finale. “In episode 10, the season finale, we see what happened to Lottie,” she said to The Hollywood Reporter. “I think that’s really clever. So after episode four, Misty [Christina Ricci] goes on to try and figure out how Lottie died. And then we find out in the finale how she died.”
She also revealed how Lottie’s death will affect the group. “I think it is [a huge hit for them]. It sort of amplifies the unraveling and the trauma, and the fact that it could be any one of them. It’s like, maybe there’s more characters passing, maybe there’s not.”
