Meghan Markle Defends Lie She Told in Her New Cooking Show
Meghan Markle’s new show With Love is finally available on Netflix, and as always with the Duchess of Sussex, people have questions. This time, though, the questions are rather innocuous as they have to do with the house featured on the show. In With Love, Markle is joined by celebrity friends like Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling, and Alice Waters, who share personal tips and tricks, as Markle showcases the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship.
Markle went from a normal celebrity due to her series regular role in law drama Suits to uber-famous when she married Prince Harry. The two later walked away from being working royals and moved to the United States, which is how we ended up with this new Netflix show, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s fifth project with Netflix. With Love was originally set to premiere in January but was postponed because of the Los Angeles wildfires.

Where does Meghan Markle live and is her With Love house real?
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry live in an estate in Montecito, about 90 miles outside of Los Angeles. And no, the house we see in With Love isn’t Markle’s real house with Prince Harry. Instead, it’s a house she rented for the filming of the project. The estate is located two miles away from Markle’s real house, according to the Daily Mail, and it’s owned by philanthropists Tom and Sherrie Cipolla.
It’s still a pretty nice place, spawning a 4,500ft pad, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms as well as avocado trees and lemon groves, all in an exclusive gated community. Pretty nice, but a far cry from Markle’s reported 16-bedroom mansion which features a home office, a gym, and a sauna with a state-of-the-art fitness center, a wine cellar, a games room, a library, and a home theatre.
The choice, for Markle, was deliberate. She told People, “I wanted to protect that safe haven. We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day. Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”
However, that doesn’t mean her family wasn’t involved, and filming in a house so close to her own allowed her to make them part of the show .“Archie did the [filming clapboard]! Sweet moments,” Markle shared. “They would also come with my husband and visit me on-set, and I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that and understand what Mama does and is working to create and share. It was really special because up until then, they hadn’t seen me at work.”
In With Love, Markle says, “We’re not in the pursuit of perfection… we’re in the pursuit of joy.” And though Markle’s joy looks a little nicer than ours, and is filled with many more celebrities, that’s a sentiment we can get behind.
