Taylor and Garrett from Love Is Blind
Netflix

And just like that… another season of Love Is Blind is over. But don’t expect to check back in on the couples of Love Is Blind Season 8 after Netflix seemingly canceled the “After the Altar” specials — which served as a post-season check-in and were released months after the original season aired — starting with Season 7

“They said they’re not doing that [anymore]. They said it’s a creative decision. It’s probably a lot to plan,” Love Is Blind Season 7 star Taylor Josemans-Krause told StyleCaster while promoting Love Is Blind’s limited-edition Chocolate Covered Strawberry Creamer and Wedding Cake Creamer flavors with International Delight.

Taylor’s husband, Garrett Josemans-Krause, whom she got married to on Love Is Blind Season 7, doesn’t take the lack of an “After the Altar” special as a loss, however, considering he and other Love Is Blind alums can still share updates about their lives in other ways.

“It’s interesting. We have our social media platforms, so we’re still open about sharing what we’re going through, what we’re doing and our marriage through our social media,” he said.

After getting engaged and married on Love Is Blind, Taylor and Garrett are also looking forward to living their live off camera, including a potential second proposal and wedding in private.

“We want to [have our own wedding] when it seems like fun,” Taylor said. “ I’ve never met a bride who’s planned a wedding and didn’t want to off herself, so I want to do it when our families can really be involved and when we have more time to make it super special. I don’t know what the timeline is on that. I would like to have a wedding where I get to pick a lot more of things and we’re able to do it on our timeline and a lot more people can make it.”

Taylor and Garrett also explained their decision for both of them to take each other’s last names. “It’s a conversation started during the show, and I don’t think that they ended up airing it, because we never gave closure on camera for like,” Garrett said. “But it was three or four dates in that we had this conversation. Taylor brought it initially and was like, ‘Well, I like my last name, why do I have to give it up?’ We started to dig into this question and the tradition a bit more. There’s some history here, what is that and why? Why am I comfortable saying, yes, you need to give up your last name, but I’m not comfortable giving up mine? Eventually just came to the compromise that we wanted to both have the same last name, and for our kids to have our same last name.”

Taylor also explained how they came up with the order of the last names. “I knew it was the norm for the woman to take the last name. For Garrett, it was still important to him. But he wasn’t like, ‘It has to be this way.’ He really sat and gave time and attention to it, but he still felt like it was important to him,” she said. “When you have a hyphenated last name, usually the second name gets dropped sometimes, like, especially with little kids. We definitely talked about it in that way, and I was completely OK with [having my name be second].”

While Taylor and Garrett are no longer on Love Is Blind, they still have strong ties to the show, which is why they decide to help promote the show’s Blind Coffee Date Delivery Contest in collaboration with International Delight.

“We’re very honored that we were thought of to be hosts in some way. We connect over coffee all the time. Garrett makes my coffee every morning. The Love Is Blind franchise, we owe a lot to. We were able to find each other through that, so I think just all of these little things that are kind of special to us,” Taylor said.
Love Is Blind streams on Netflix.
