Love Is Blind‘s Joey Called His Late Sister the ‘Biggest Influence’ in His Life Before His Emotional Tribute to Her at His Wedding

Love Is Blind Season 8 is over and done with, but questions still remain around what happened to Joey’s sister on the Netflix show after his beautiful tribute to her at his wedding to his then-fiancee, Monica.
Joey Leveille and Monica Danus were one of five couples who got engaged on Love Is Blind Season 8. They broke up at the altar at their wedding in the Love Is Blind Season 8 finale. At their wedding, Love Is Blind showed an unoccupied wheelchair, which Joey dedicated to his sister, Chasea, in a speech. “One thing my sister, Chasea, had always taught me was to cherish every moment and every little good thing,” he said. “Although we came here and this was our ultimate decision, I think there’s still a ton of good. And just like my sister would do, if she was here, [she’d] find that and cherish that, and I’m sure Monica feels the same. So, thank you.”
What happened to Joey’s sister from Love Is Blind Season 8?
Joey’s sister, Chasea Lyn Leveille, died on January 16, 2006, according to her obituary on Legacy.com. She was 18 years old. Though Joey’s sister’s obituary doesn’t disclose what she passed away from, it does note that her family “helped her through each illness she overcame” before her death. According to the obituary, Joey’s sister also lived with her family in a hospital care setting before her death at a St. Marys Medical Center in Minnesota.
“Oh, our little Chasea, our little fighter, our queen,” her obituary read. “You have been the center of our lives. We revolved around you like a merry-go-round and rode with you each step of the way. Our lives will never be the same without you. In our minds we see your smile. In your eyes we see your voice. In our hearts we feel you laugh. How life will be without you, we cannot begin to comprehend. There is not one soul you met that you did not touch. You fought the fight, you have won the race. Now smile with Jesus, our little Chasers. Run in the fields, sing out loud, twirl and dance, taste the snowflakes and feel the grass. Play music with your Grandpa in your mansion above, and in the blink of an eye, we will be with you sweet Chasea.”
Joey also shared a tribubte to his sister in an Instagram post in 2014 in which he revealed that he wouldn’t be who he is today without her. “Thanks for everything sis! Without you by my side I would never be who I am today!” he captioned a photo of their family. “You have taught me so many life lessons and had expected nothing in return and for that I will be forever thankful! The virtues you have taught will continue to live on in all the hearts you touched! Words can not describe my thanks and I hope some day my actions will! Love you forever.”
In another Instagram post in 2018, Joey called his sister the “biggest influence” in his life. “The biggest influence in my life taught me more than I could have ever imagined without saying a single word to me. I have been more than blessed to have you in my life! Remembering you on this day sis. You will forever shine in us!” he captioned a photo of them.
