If you didn’t watch their season of The Bachelor, you may be looking for an explainer on what happened with Zach and Kaity on The Bachelor Season 27 and how their drama led Kaity to give one of Season 29 Bachelor Grant Ellis‘ final three contestants some sage advice when it came to sex in the Fantasy Suites.
Kaity Biggar, the winner of The Bachelor Season 27 with Zach Shallcross, made a guest appearance in The Bachelor Season 29’s Fantasy Suites episode to give advice to Litia Garr, one of Grant’s three finalists, who was struggling with the idea of Grant having sex with other women during Fantasy Suites. During the scene, Kaity opened up to Litia, who decided not to have sex with Grant, about her own experience during Fantasy Suites when Zach had sex with his runner-up, Gabi Elnicki, after promising not to sleep with anyone.
“Zach basically went into this week and made, like, this whole declaration — sex is off the table,” Kaity said. “I was the third girl that went, so he had previously had two overnights, two other women, and so I finally, like, meet up with him. About 30 minutes into our date, he tells me that he got intimate with another woman. I tried so hard to compartmentalize each relationship, and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I, like, broke down, started shaking. I was like, ‘I don’t know how we recover from this.’ I knew that this was a potential that could happen, and I didn’t want to hear it. I wanted to focus on him and I.”
The scene ended with Litia telling Kaity that she didn’t want to know if Grant had sex with anyone else, to which Kaity advised her to make sure Grant knew that.

Zach, Kaity, and Gabi’s drama on The Bachelor Season 27’s Fantasy Suites episode was way more messy than Kaity described to Litia. At the start of the episode, Zach told Season 17 Bachelor Sean Lowe that it was important for him not to have sex with any of his three finalists — Gabi, Kaity and Ariel Frankel — to not “muddy the situation.”
The first Fantasy Suite date is between Ariel and Zach, who tells Ariel during their dinner that he didn’t plan to have sex with any of his finalists during Fantasy Suite week. During her confessional interview, Ariel admitted that she was disappointed, but understood Zach’s decision.
Gabi had the second date, and during their dinner, Zach tells her the same thing he told Ariel about not wanting to have sex with anyone during Fantasy Suites. Gabi tells him him that she wasn’t expecting to get engaged to someone she had never had sex with, but she ultimately comes to terms with it and the scene ends with the two entering their private room off-camera. The next morning, Zach admits to host Jesse Palmer that he and Gabi, in fact, had sex. He told Jesse that he didn’t regret his decision to be intimate with Gabi but he did feel disappointed in himself for making the situation messy. He also insisted it was an “act of love, not lust.”
During his third Fantasy Suite date with Kaity, Zach admits to her that he went into the week not wanting to have sex with any of his three finalists, but was intimate with one of the women. Kaity starts crying and admits that, while she knew sex was a part of Fantasy Suites, she could have gone without the confirmation from Zach. She tells the camera she’s “crushed” in a confessional interview.
The date continues with Kaity telling Zach that she didn’t need him to explain his relationship with other women. Kaity also tells producers that she isn’t happy and doesn’t know if she can continue their date. In the end, though, Kaity does return to their date and after a conversation between her and Zach about how they really feel for each other, Kaity agrees to spend the night with Zach in their Fantasy Suite. Fast forward to the Rose Ceremony, and Gabi feels blindsided by Zach’s decision to tell Kaity (and the cameras) that they had sex during their Fantasy Suite date. The episode ends with Gabi and Kaity receiving the final two roses.
Kaity went on to receive Zach’s final rose, while Gabi was the runner-up. During the “After the Final Rose” special, Gabi admitted that it was “extremely violating that the entire nation knows everything” about her and Zach’s Fantasy Suite date. “He is going to hopefully marry one of my close friends and I plan to stay in Kaity’s life. And, you know, for me to hold hate towards him and anger and resentment — I’m hoping I can let that go at some point,” she later said on the “Off the Vine” podcast. “But I do think that, at this point, I still feel violated. And I’m still getting over all of it.”

Yes, Zach and Kaity are still together. Zach confirmed he and Kaity were still together with an Instagram post in January 2025 of them before a date night.
In an interview on the “Almost Famous” podcast at the time, Zach revealed that he and Kaity canceled their wedding after their wedding planner sat them down and informed them about how much over their budget they would be if they booked their ideal wedding venue. After discussing the price of their wedding for a week, Zach explained that he and Kaity decided to cancel their wedding to use that money on a down payment for a house instead.
“We pondered on it for a week and we’re like, ‘[It] does not feel good to just go so into this venue when we’ve already established what our priorities are,’ which is buying a house and not a down payment for one day. So we backed out of the contract. Not saying we’re done with wedding planning. We’ve actually gone further in other areas, but we just couldn’t do that. I don’t know, like it’s so crazy nowadays,” he said. While the two won’t have a wedding, Zach confessed that he and Kaity still plan to get married. “We’re planning to get eloped very soon, like very soon,” he said.
The Bachelor streams on Hulu.
