Rosie O’Donnell is embracing her new look. A week before her debut in And Just Like That, O’Donnell shared an Instagram post showing off her dramatic weight loss as a result of the diabetes medication Mounjaro.
“i cant believe this is me now #mounjaro #weightloss #bodydismorphia,” O’Donnell captioned an Instagram post of her performing standup comedy.

Mounjaro is a brand of tirzepatide, a medication for type 2 diabetes and weight loss (similar to Ozempic and Wegovy) taken weekly by injection in the thigh, stomach or arm. Along with O’Donnell, other celebrities including Elon Musk, Meghan Trainor, Daryl Sabara, and Sophia Umansky have revealed that they’ve used the drug.
O’Donnell’s Instagram post came two months after she gave an update on her experience with the weight-loss medication in a TikTok video in March 2025. “I’ve lost more weight. I am on Mounjaro for my diabetes and one of the side effects is you lose weight,” she said. “But it’s also because I had a chef for over two years in Los Angeles and I don’t have a chef now. It’s me cooking for Clay and me.”
O’Donnell, who now lies in Ireland, shared that she had to go shopping in Dublin for new clothes that “fit better” after her weight loss. “I’m one of those people who always had a weight issue and now that I’m a size large — instead of an XL or a XXL — I find it shocking,” she said. “I really do. I find it completely shocking.”
O’Donnell revealed that a doctor put her on Mounjaro and Repatha, another medication used to lower cholesterol, in January 2023. “About two months ago my doctor put me on – not Ozempic – Mounjaro and Rapatha,” she said in response to a fan who asked how she lost 10 pounds in between then and Christmas 2022. “One I do every other week and one I do once a week.”
She added that, aside from a celebratory champagne toast, she had not drunk “anything except water” since Christmas. “I’m not eating sugar as much as I can,” she said. “My appetite has decreased significantly. It’s probably the meds. And I’m trying to move more. So, all those things combined, that’s what it is.”
O’Donnell’s Instagram post showing off her weight loss came a week before her appearance in And Just Like That Season 3, in which she played Mary, a virgin nun who has sex with Cynthia Nixon’s Miranda Hobbes.
“I laughed my ass off. I thought — I know how to play this character. I was very, very happy to be doing all my scenes with Cynthia. It was not acting for me. I don’t have to act in love with her, because I’ve been in love with her for many years,” she told Variety after the episode aired. “I saw her in ‘Wit,’ on Broadway, and even though I had known her for very many years and was friends with her in a real way, when I went backstage, I was awestruck and couldn’t find my words.”
She revealed that she was approached for the role through Nixon, whom she described as a “good friend.” “It was Cynthia. I’m good friends with Cynthia Nixon, and my daughter was actually her assistant on set for the last season of Sex and the City — of And Just Like That,” she said. “I call it Sex and the City 2, but that’s not it. She put her on there, and then she said, ‘By the way, Michael told me that he has a role for you. Are you up for it?’ I said, ‘Are you kidding me? In a minute!’ I didn’t even have to think about it.”
She continued, “I’ve known Michael Patrick King for probably over 30 years. When I was a young comedian, he was in a comedy duo called King and Mindy — Lisa Mindy and Michael King. I used to hang out with them at Catch a Rising Star and at the Improv. It’s been pretty amazing to see the people that began together doing so well.”
And Just Like That streams on Max.
