Love Island USA‘s Cierra Is Best Friends With Not 1 But 2 Former Islanders

As one third of Love Island USA Season 7’s first love triangle, viewers, understandably, have a lot of questions about Cierra, including what her ethnicity is and whether she’s related to past islander fans are calling her twin.

Cierra Ortega, a 25-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, was one of two bombshells who entered the villa on Love Island USA Season 7 on Day 2, along with Charlie Georgiou, a 27-year-old from Birmingham, United Kingdom. She coupled up with Nic Vansteenberghe the day after she arrived, which led him to split from his original couple with Belle-A Walker.
At Love Island USA Season 7’s first recoupling, Nic, who was in a love triangle with both Cierra and Belle-A, chose to stay coupled up with Cierra, thus dumping Belle-A from the island. However, the drama wasn’t done there. Before Belle-A was dumped, she and Nic made out in the “Soul Ties” daybed minutes before Nic and Cierra also kissed in the photo booth. What’s Cierra’s ethnicity from Love Island USA?
Cierra is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent, according to her Instagram biography, which has emojis for both Puerto Rico and Mexico’s flags. She was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, but lives in Los Angeles, California. Along with her dual heritage, Cierra has visited many countries around the world, including Egypt, Thailand, Saint Martin, Costa Rica, France, and Italy, according to her Instagram.
While she’s been popular inside the villa, Cierra is also friends with several Love Island USA alums, including Cassie Castillo from Seasons 5 and 6, and Johnnie Garcia from Season 5, whom fans have said Cierra resembles.
“Same girl different font @Cierra Ortega,” Johnnie captioned a TikTok video with Cierra in 2024. “As soon as I saw Ciera walk in I was like she looks just like Johnny 😭😭😭,” a user commented on the video. “Okay! I’m not crazy I saw her walk in and for a sec was like wait that can’t be Johnnie what about Cormac!!!!” another user commented referencing Johnnie’s boyfriend and fellow Love Island USA alum, Cormac Murphy. Johnnie responded to the comment, “No no you’ll never see me on another dating show as long as that man’s alive 🔐🔐🔐.”
Along with Johnnie, fans have also compared Cierra’s looks to Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who played Devi Vishwakumar, on Netflix’s Never Have I Ever. (Ramakrishnan is Sri Lankan Tamil, while Cierra is Puerto Rican and Mexican.)
“Please tell [me] I’m not the only one who thinks Cierra looks just like Maitreyi Ramakrishnan aka Devi from the show Never Have I Ever,” a user wrote on TikTok. “She looks just like her! I couldn’t figure out the girls name! Cierra is becoming my fav too! Love her spirit. I’m not sure nick deserves her tbh!” user commented on the video. “They are doppelgängers,” another user wrote.
