Wait what? What do you mean that Love Island isn’t airing this tonight? Fans of the reality dating show constantly ask this question on Wednesdays, and we’re here to give an answer.

Love Island USA extends from the Love Island franchise that originated in the UK. The series premiered on Peacock in 2019 and within recent years, became a staple in the world of reality dating shows. Season 6 produced many iconic It couples like Leah Kateb and Miguel Hiraichi, JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez, and the crowned winners Serena Page and Kordell Beckham.

Why aren’t there Love Island USA episodes on Wednesdays?

Love Island USA doesn’t air on Wednesdays because they’re likely to have a rest day after a continuous 6 day filming schedule. The show’s format isn’t like Big Brother, where contestants are watched on a 24-hour live stream. However, everything that the contestants do is in real time. The good news is that Love Island USA episodes drop every day from Thursday to Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Peacock.

Unlike other reality TV shows that air weekly, the show runs on a 22-episode schedule, which lasts for a month in the summer. The only time that Love Island USA airs on Wednesday is during premiere week. For Season 7, Love Island USA premiered on a Tuesday night which meant that the second night in the villa would be aired on a Wednesday.

Love Island USA host Ariana Madix revealed to USA Today about how she watches everything in her makeup chair behind the scenes. “We watch the live feeds of what’s going on in the villa, which is really fun,” Madix told USA Today. “You can change the channels between the groups of people and what they’re talking about. I love gossip and I love to eavesdrop, so it’s perfect for me.”
