Nic’s family just put in their two cents for the latest Love Island episode. The 24-year-old model’s parents had a funny reaction to their son’s decisions in the villa.

For a majority of the time spent in the villa, Nicolas “Nic” Vansteenberghe was coupled with Cierra Ortega. However, he did cite that there were unresolved feelings with Olandria Carthen was a roadblock on their path. Nic was contemplating his feelings with both Islanders when Cierra’s sudden departure helped lead him to rekindle his connection with the elevator professional.

Cierra left the Love Island USA villa due to “personal” reasons. However, Cierra’s exit came after fans called for her to be fired from the show after an Instagram Story of her using a racial slur. Nic went down a spiral since he wasn’t sure what his future in the villa looked like, but was open to restart things with Olandria “I’ve loved him from the moment I met him. I’m super excited to spend the rest of my days with this person. The boy I would like to couple up with is Nic,” Olandria shared during her recoupling speech.

It seems like Nic and Cierra are over for good, and Nic is heavily exploring Nicolandria— the ship name that has gone viral on social media.

Nic’s family seemed to be jumping with joy when Nic and Orlandria recoupled. In a video, Nic’s mother was cheering on from the couch, while his father was joyful and pumping his arms up on a cycling machine.

Meanwhile, on Cierra’s front, her family has called out the hate their daughter has been receiving. They called the moment “one of the most painful weeks of our lives” in a statement shared on her Instagram Stories. “

We’re not here to justify or ignore what’s surfaced,” they wrote. “We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters. But what’s happening online right now has gone far beyond that.”

“The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it’s heartbreaking,” the statement continued. “It’s uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they’ve made.

“While Cierra is not in the villa anymore, she is still away. She hasn’t had the chance to process any of this or speak for herself,” Ortega’s family said. “But we know our daughter. We know her heart. And when she returns, we believe she’ll face this with honesty, growth, and grace.”

They added, “While she’ll always be our little girl, she’s also a woman, one who will take responsibility in her own time and her own voice. Until then, we’re simply asking for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency. Not just for her, but for everyone caught in the middle of this.”

Cierra’s leave comes after Yulissa’s departure after the Love Island contestant had said a racial slur in a resurfaced 2021 video. “In those clips, I used a word I never should’ve used, a racial slur,” Escobar wrote on her Instagram account. “I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it. I wasn’t trying to be offensive or harmful, but I recognize now that intention doesn’t excuse impact. And the impact of that word is real. It’s tied to generations of trauma, and it is not mine to use.”
