With The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox now streaming on Hulu, many people might be wondering where Rudy Guede is now. Guede was the third man convicted in Meredith Kercher’s murder case, after her roommate, Amanda Knox, and her boyfriend at the time, Raffaele Sollecito, were suspected of killing her.

Knox and Sollecito served four years in prison after they were tried multiple times in a high-profile journey of convictions, appeals, and re-convictions. Knox and Sollecito were exonerated in March 2015 after it was determined that Rudy Guede, who was also convicted of the murder in 2008, had acted alone.

Guede admitted that he was with Kercher on the night of her death. The Ivorian national living in Italy said Kercher invited him home with her the night she died. He fled the scene, but his DNA was found on a bloody handprint on Kercher’s pillow and bra. He was tried separately in a fast-track procedure and initially sentenced to 30 years, which was later reduced to 16 years.

Where is Rudy Guede now?

Rudy Guede is currently awaiting trial after facing charges of sexual assault and violence against a former girlfriend. The trial is set for fall 2025.

According to he investigating magistrate Rita Cialoni, more than 100,000 photos, thousands of chats, and audio messages between Guede and the unnamed victim are among the evidence to be considered in the trial.

He started dating the unnamed woman while he was still in prison and ended their relationship in 2023 when the woman pressed charges against him, according to Italian media. Guede served 13 years of a 16-year sentence and was released from prison in 2021.

Amanda Knox was asked if she would extend grace to Guede years after their “He’s the guy who actually killed my roommate,” she said on her Hard Knox podcast. “So he’s the one who broke into my home, who left his DNA all over Meredith’s body and belongings and he fled the country.”

“There are a number of crimes that he committed that he wasn’t even charged with, including slander against me and Rafaelle,” the author said.

“Generally a bad dude,” she added. “He starts dating a much younger woman, and as she recounts it, he was physically violent, manipulative, stalked her, and sexually assaulted her.”

“I’m starting to notice a lot of things people aren’t noticing,” she explained about how the new case wasn’t getting enough media attention. “That’s aggravating to me because these crimes against this new woman are suggestive of the crimes he did to Meredith.”
