The internet is absolutely obsessed with Heated Rivalry. The book-turned-Crave-produced show has captivated people with the storyline and hot actors, especially with lead Connor Storrie.
Connor Storrie plays Ilya Rozanov, the intense Russian star hockey player in Boston. While going through different matches, he becomes entangled in a torrid affair with his rival, Shane Hollander.
While a lot of the show could be focused on the sex, many people were amazed by Connor Storrie’s performance and were infatuated with his deep Russian accent.
Connor Storrie is not Russian, but he’s developed a deep appreciation for the culture while researching for his role. “Honestly, I’ve always just thought Russian language and Russian culture was really cool,” he told eTalk. “It’s so different from American culture, so it feels really exotic and out there from where I come from.”
He continued, “So getting to play anything that is as far away from me as possible, I feel like is really enlightening. It’s also just fun to put on that sort of posture and that sort of thing. You know, I’m super enthusiastic, so getting to do that is just fun. It lets you discover things about yourself and about the world. It’s easier to play that way too, because I’m not so concerned about being Connor.”
The actor hails from Texas, and according to some sleuths on Reddit, Storrie worked with Russian dialect coach Kate Yablunovsky. Many people online were not convinced that he was from the Lone Star State. One X user posted a video of a scene with the commentary, “omg as a native russian speaker i can say his russian is basically perfect overall, but in this scene it’s totally on point with zero accent, and he nails the sarcasm of that russian bisexual cocky boy effortlessly.”
Another person praised his accent, “LMAO connor talks in russian just like the average russian guy next door. he’s good the accent is here yes but it’s not that bad. he sounds almost native. i am delighted.”
