Is she the villain of this season’s Single’s Inferno? , After Season 5 of the hit South Korean dating show premiered, lots of chatter has been surrounding one female contestant: Choi Mina Sue.
Mina Sue Choi entered Inferno after the initial contestants coupled up to go to Paradise. She captured the attention of many men on the island, especially Lee Sung-hun (Samuel), who bonds with her after they spoke English to each other. However, she gained notoriety after she chose Song Seung-il for a challenge when Kim Min-gee already called dibs on him.
She further cited more drama during the game of truth or dare when she was stuck between choosing Lim Su-been, who she’s been to Paradise with, and Sung-hun, before finally confessing that she’d like to go to Paradise with Woo Sung Min next time.

After episode four, netizens have called out her behavior on the show. “mina sue… bringing up other girls, shitting on them being sensitive when tbh you are the most, stop being a hypocrite… so self-centered 🫵” one viewer wrote on X. Another wrote, “mina sue is the definition of pick me & I DON’T THROW THAT WORD AROUND LIGHTLY. Rolling her eyes when a girl shows interest in ONE of the FOUR guys she’s interested in, wants to be #1 for a guy when she herself picked 4 guys for 4 different answers? the hypocrisy.”
So between the four men, who will Mina Sue choose?
We won’t know for sure who Mina Sue will end up with until the finale, which airs on Feb. 10. However, she’s keeping her options open. “When someone tries to talk to me, I feel like I’m being the villain,” she told Sung-hun in a one-on-one in episode 5. “And honestly, I’ve been pretty kind to every person here.”
Amid being branded as a villain in the show and online, Mina Sue’s friends have defended her online. Mina Sue was crowned Miss Earth in 2022, and fellow Miss International Jasmine Selberg spoke highly of her friend. “I see how her role in Singles Inferno might have a bad look on her as a person,” she commented on one of Mina Sue’s Instagram posts. “It’s a show meant for entertainment. As in any entertainment show, each person in the cast receives a role. From everybody’s darling up until the antagonist, there’s everything in between.”
“The role which was given to her from the directors and editors does not represent her as a person,” she continued. “Don’t just shame people for the role they present on a show. It’s not real, and most certainly not that deep. What is real is the hurt that is created through online bullying.”
Other fans also defended Mina Sue’s intentions and found her behavior entertaining. “not sure why some people are easily triggered,” one fan wrote on X. “i love mina sue’s messy ass and i CAN love mingee too. this isnt about pitting two women against each other. i am a viewer who enjoy both. be calm”
Whether we’ll see Mina Sue exiting Inferno in hand with someone who connects with her, time will only tell.
