Lee Sung-hun never gave up on Choi Mina-sue. The Single’s Inferno Season 5 contestants happily left the island together, hand in hand, after a tumultuous week.
Choi Mina-sue and Lee Sung-hun, aka Sam Lee, joined as the second batch of contestants who landed in Inferno. The two immediately bonded over how they could easily speak English together, and they’ve spent most of their time on the island comforting each other in both English and Korean. Even when Mina-sue chose to pursue Seung-il, or when she was confronted by Su-been for her confusing choices, Sung-hun stood by her side through thick and thin.
The two never went to Paradise together during the show. The only time Sung-hun did was with Hee-sun, who also speaks English and goes to Carnegie Mellon University in the US. But he chose to remain platonic with her. The two rekindled their relationship during episode 11 and talked things out. He even had a celebratory moment when he guessed right that she was younger than him. (“Let’s go!” he exclaimed as he dapped up Su-been.)
When making her final choice, Sung-hun was the only person who stood up and approached her. “I think out of all the people here, you brought the version of myself that I liked the most,” Mina-sue confessed. “I can’t imagine leaving this place without Sam.”

Status: Unknown
It’s pretty much up in the air whether Sung-hun and Mina-sue are still together. Sung-hun just reactivated his Instagram after deleting it for a month, and he doesn’t follow anyone. Likewise, Mina-sue doesn’t follow Sung-hun on her social accounts. Though she did post a couple of videos of her traveling in New York City, where Sung-hun currently lives as a quant trader. It also seems like she’s still spending time in Chicago, where she goes to college as a communications major.
Reddit fans also found out that Sung-hun had been liking comments that were supportive of Mina-sue. The poster wrote, “It’s rare to find people who would care for you even in your lowest times. I will stand behind this couple if they are still dating”
In the Elle Korea roundup of the contestants of the show, Mina-sue revealed what she thought about being in a relationship. “I think it takes up about 95 per cent of my life,” she said. “This includes not only romantic relationships but also love for family, friendship, our puppy, and even my work. I still believe in the saying that you must love yourself first to love others.”
She also accomplished the mission that she gave herself for going on the show. “I tend to be very aware of others, so there are times when I hesitate to show my honest self,” she revealed, nodding to her controversial behavior in the season. “My goal there was to show the most ‘me’ I could be. Even if that version of myself isn’t attractive, I still wanted to bring out and show my complete self.”
