If you love the original series, you may want to know how to watch Gen V online for free to see why the spin-off of The Boys may be even better than the show it’s based on.
Gen V is a spin-off of The Boys, a superhero series which follows a team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their powers. Gen V, which premiered on September 29, 2023, is set in the same universe as The Boys and a group of young adult superheroes as they’re trained at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting run by Vought International, the same company that owns the Seven.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jaz Sinclair—who plays lead character Marie Moreau, a blood bender—expained her character’s arc through the first season of Gen V. “[Marie] has moments where she has to decide, ‘Do I want to look like a hero or do I want to be a hero?'” she said. “And she’s chosen following the rules in moments that have gotten her into some trouble with her friends, but I think that ultimately she’s choosing to be a real hero and to do the right thing, even if it is at her own expense—even though she’s wanted more than anything forever to be in the Seven.”
Asa Germann, who plays Sam in Gen V, also explained how the characters’ ages play a part in their personal and superhero journeys. “In The Boys, we’re seeing a bunch of superheroes where they wound up,” he said. “But in this show, we aren’t only following the supes in terms of their journey about becoming supes. We’re following their journey in terms of how they’re becoming people and how they’re growing up and evolving and learning and creating relationships and destroying relationships — and really, at a core, figuring out what it means to be a hero. The thing that I love so much about our show is that we don’t actually really answer that question.”

Prime Video’s free trial is four times longer than most other streaming services. Compared to Paramount Plus, which offer just a seven-day free trial, Amazon Prime Video‘s free trial is 30 days. That’s three weeks more than competitors. The free trial also comes with the same benefits of Prime, such as free two-day shipping, Prime Music and more. But perhaps the best part about Prime Video’s free trial is that customers can sign up for it multiple times. According to Amazon, users can sign up for Prime Video’s free trial over and over again as long as it isn’t within the same 12 months. This means that if you if you haven’t been an Amazon Prime member for more than 12 months, you’re eligible to receive another 30 days for free.
After the free trial ends, Prime Video costs $8.99 per month for non-Prime members. However, if you’re an Prime member, Prime Video comes free with Prime, which includes Prime Delivery (such as free two-day shipping, free same-day shipping, free release-date delivery and free no-rush shipping), as well as access to Prime Music, Prime Gaming and Prime Reading. Amazon Prime costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year, which saves subscribers about $36 from the monthly subscription.

In an interview with Prime Video, Luh explained the title of Gen V. “Gen V captures the debauchery and crazy student life for viewers by… the writing is so good. It’s just, it’s the finger is on, as such on the pulse of like, what it’s like to be a college student in today’s age,” they said. “The play on Gen V is obviously Gen Z. And it’s like, we are the Gen Z in this world.”
Thomas also explained in the same interview how the age of Gen V‘s charactes and where they are in the super journey sets it apart from The Boys. “I think what Gen V does brilliantly is in college life, these kids come in, and they have all these dreams and aspirations but it’s so kind of uninformed. And so that’s normal under any college circumstances. But when you have kids that have superpowers, it just kind of amplifies all the good that can happen with that and all the bad that can happen with that,” he said. “So that’s what Gen V really kind of exposes in terms of the storytelling is that in a larger canvas, it shows us how idealism and also selfishness kind of mixed in together and, and causes, you know, crazy results with these kids because they’re still forming. They’re still not mature yet.”
