How Many Episodes Is Daredevil in Echo? The Number Is Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Echo. Fans were devasted to learn that one of the best Marvel TV shows was canceled after three seasons and have been looking for evidence of his return ever since. Now, The Man Without Fear is back, but you have to wonder how long we have him for. How many episodes is Daredevil in Echo?

The Disney+ series premiered on January 9, 2024, and spotlights the character Maya Lopez as she’s pursued by Wilson Fisk’s criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy. The gritty, grounded, five-episode series is a self-contained story that follows Maya’s pursuit of power and revenge. But at the heart of the action-packed series is a burgeoning antihero with roots in the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

“In HawkeyeMaya was a villain,” said director Sydney Freeland in a press release for the show. “And while she’s our protagonist in Echo, we wanted to embrace those darker sides and flaws within the character who is on an extremely emotional journey trying to navigate the pent-up anger inside her. She’s a very nuanced character with culture and ancestry in the Choctaw community which is something we hadn’t seen before.”

The Netflix adaptation of Daredevil broke a lot of new ground. Starring Charlie Cox as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, it was bloody, violent and brutal—which flew in the face of the cinematic MCU which, while action-packed, wasn’t gory because it had to be appropriate for PG-13 audiences.

Fans were thrilled to learn Charlie Cox was back but some will be disappointed we don’t get enough of him. Here’s the answer to the question of how many episodes is Daredevil in Echo.

How many episodes is Daredevil in Echo?

Daredevil is only in one episode of Echo out of five; he has an extended cameo in the premiere episode titled “Chafa” and while it’s disappointing he’s only in one, he makes one hell of an entrance. It’s a flashback sequence where Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) encourages her to use her rage to help his criminal empire.

She’s sent on an ambush operation to take out a series of his gangster enemies, but her plan is thwarted when Daredevil crashes the scene, telling her she’s been watching her for a while. Eagle-eyed fans noticed he wasn’t in the yellow suit he donned for his cameo in She-Hulk, but he’s back in the classic scarlet red and black suit.

“The Daredevil scene is one of the best cameos we’ve done in a Marvel show or movie,” producer Brad Winderbaum told Deadline on January 4, 2024. “It’s not just thrown in there. It’s fundamental to her journey as a character. Her fight with Daredevil represents a huge triumph for Maya Lopez that finally catches the eye of Kingpin and contextualizes her in a certain way in his criminal empire. So, it’s important and it’s incredible.”

Thankfully, Charlie Cox will make a full return as The Man Without Fear in the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again, with D’Onofrio reprising his role as Fisk. “We’ve only just started shooting. I think we’re a couple weeks in, and the show is going to be very, very different than the Netflix show, and it’s so exciting because what we’re doing is quite something,” D’Onofrio told Newsweek. “I think it’s something that people are not going to expect. But, always with these Marvel old comic stories that are being revisited and reinvented by us actors, and the writers, the main thing is to answer the fans.” He added: “To give them what they want but try to be original in some way at the same time, and so that’s what we’re doing on the show. It’s definitely an original way to look at this, and it’s really deep, really emotional.”

He also revealed that despite shooting on season 1 has only just begun, plans for season 2 are already in the works. “And, by the second season, there are gigantic, gigantic payoffs—in the first season, too, but I can’t say much about that—but the fans are gonna really get what they want. It’s really quite cool to be doing it.”

On Cox’s portrayal of Matt Murdoch aka Daredevil, director Marc Jobst praised the actor’s athleticism in an interview with ScreenRant. “Charlie is an unbelievable physical athlete. We were shooting the scene, I think it was the first episode of season three, and he’d been in some terrible situation, the building had collapsed on him, and he’d escaped through it, and he was recovering in the chapel of this church.”

He continued: “In part of that recovery process, he was doing a series of exercises to bring himself back to himself, and we were doing these sort of things, and he was like, “Ah, this is what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna do a handstand, and I’m going to do press ups on a handstand.” I don’t know if you’ve ever tried that, Grant, but for the likes of you and me, it’s just not wise, unless you’ve really done some training. [Laughs] He just got up and he just did it, it was like, “What? Wow!”
