Spoiler warning for Emily in Paris season 4.
Emily in Paris is one of Netflix’s most divisive shows, not just because of the criticism that it satirizes Paris, but for the simple fact that Emily is a bit of a mess romantically. With that huge twist at the end of season 4, première parties (part one), fans and hate-watchers alike are wondering if Emily and Alfie will get back together.

“The course of love never goes smoothly. I think there’ll be unexpected obstacles. But more than that, I think as they really get to know each other, they see each other less as fantasies,” the show’s creator Darren Starr told The Hollywood Reporter. “The infatuation period is over, and it’s about being more realistic about who they are. Like any relationship, you have your romantic fantasy period, and then you have reality.”

While of course we have to wait until Emily in Paris part 2 hits Netflix in September, the actor who plays Alfie has hinted that it doesn’t end well for them. (A quick recap: at the end of part 1, Emily and Gabriel finally get their kiss after sneaking out of a party. Little do they know, a heartbroken Alfie watches on as they leave together.)
“He’s trying to do what he thinks is right for Emily, but then at the same time shoots himself in the foot a little bit and by the time it gets to that point, is it too late? Isn’t it too late? True love takes time and we’ve got to figure things out before we get there, so we’ll see if the timing’s right,” Lucien Laviscount told Deadline at the premiere.
In a separate interview with Us Weekly, Laviscount weighed in on what he would do in a similar love triangle situation. “The actor took a long pause before deciding he would likely ‘bow out’ entirely,” the tabloid reported.
