His Bachelor Nation journey didn’t stop on night one of The Bachelorette! With two contestants already announced as part of the Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 cast, viewers can’t help but wonder whether Brett will be the third.

Brett, a 28-year-old Health and Safety Manager from Manheim, Pennsylvania, was one of 25 contestants on The Bachelorette Season 21 with Jenn Tran. He was sent home in Week 1 but became a fan favorite as one of the first plus-size men to ever be featured on The Bachelorette. “About time we got a bigger guy on these shows let’s go Brett,” a user commented on ABC’s Instagram post announcing Brett as a contestant on The Bachelorette Season 21. Another wrote, “Brett is going to be our season favorite.” One more user commented, “Now I wanna see some body inclusiveness on the Bachelor seasons for the women.”

Though Brett didn’t work out with Jenn, fans still have hope that The Bachelorette Season 21 wasn’t the last time viewers saw him be a part of Bachelor Nation, especially after his segment during the Season 21 “Men Tell All” when he read thirsty DMs sent to him by fans after his elimination. The next logical step is Bachelor in Paradise.

Only two contestants have been confirmed to be a part of the Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 cast so far: Jonathon Johnson and Hakeem Moulton, two contestants from The Bachelorette Season 21 with Jenn Tran. (Jonathon was Jenn’s third-place finalist, while Hakeem went home in Week 3.)
Both Jonathon and Hakeem were offered spots in the Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 cast during The Bachelorette Season 21 “Men Tell All,” which they both accepted. But where does that leave Brett?

Though he hasn’t been confirmed as part of the Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 cast, the chances look good for Brett to also join the beach. Brett was asked about whether he would ever do Bachelor in Paradise in an interview with The Bachelor franchise’s official podcast, “Bachelor Happy Hour,” in July 2024, and he’s in. “I honestly have never watched it, but I’ve filled in because all my friends are like, ‘You gotta go, man. You gotta go.’ I heard that it’s on a beach and you get to wear swim trunks and drink beer. Those are some good things.”
He continued, “If the opportunity presented itself, it’s definitely something I would lean toward. If I was still single, I would listen and hear out the opportunity. It would have to feel right. It’s not something I would say yes to right away or no to right away. It would have to feel right to me kind of like The Bachelorette. I was so up and down on it. It would have to be a situation where I’m like, ‘Yeah, I feel good about it. Let’s go.’”
“Bachelor Happy Hour” co-host Joe Amabile, who starred on The Bachelorette Season 14 with Becca Kufrin before meeting his now-wife, Serena Pitt, on Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 also gave Brett advice on why Bachelor in Paradise could fare better for him than The Bachelorette.
“I don’t think you had the same issue as myself. I was really nervous night one to the point I couldn’t have conversations. I will say the atmosphere of Paradise for myself and even I think for [Serena] is a much more chill environment,” Joe said. “Truly, you drink beer. You wear a bathing suit all day. You’re kind of chilling. Honestly, the odds are better because there are more women than just one. If you’re single and the opportunity presents itself, I’d like to see you on it.”
The Bachelor franchise also seems to be pushing for Brett to be on Bachelor in Paradise Season 9. During The Bachelorette Season 21 “Men Tell All,” Brett had a segment where Jesse Palmer (and Jonathon) read messages and comments he received after his appearance on The Bachelorette. Brett was also one of only a few contestants from The Bachelorette Season 21 to be highlighted in such a way, which seemingly confirmed his importance to Bachelor Nation executives.
Each Bachelor in Paradise season has also featured at least one contestant who was eliminated in Week 1 of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette—including Joe—so Brett’s status as a night one eliminee from The Bachelorette Season 21 shouldn’t hinder his chances of appearing on Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 and even being include in the original cast. (Joe, for his part, was also an original cast member on Bachelor in Paradise Season 7.)
