The Most Interesting Outfits at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, According to Our Fashion Writer
Fashion had another big night out. You know what that means! I’m here to blog about it.
Last night, the CFDA Fashion Awards drew culture’s favorite faces du jour to the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, and I have to say, for the first time in a while, I found the styling riveting. Maybe it’s because we have actually interesting celebrities right now, but the space has returned to a state of cool.
Addison Rae wore this stunning and cool Thom Browne mermaid gown, styled by Dara Allen, who’s got a Midas touch on aesthetics right now. Dara also styled Addison for her latest music video for “Aquamarine.” She wore a steel gray corset top with a peplum hem and paired it with a sequin striped gray fitted maxi skirt with a mermaid flourish at the bottom.
Troye Sivan wore a black pinstripe suit and black and white lace camis underneath, a la “soft grunge,” a custom look by New York-based designer Tanner Fletcher. He also had on defining eye makeup and chunky metal hardware from Chrome Hearts (of course).
WNBA star, forward on the Chicago Sky, League Barbie Angel Reese was also there. Vogue got the exclusive story on her draft experience, and since then, she’s become a friend of the brand. She was at the Met Gala, and now she’s at the CFDA Awards wearing this white strapless gown and matching fur stole from Simkhai. Icy blonde hair a must.
And not that I have favorites, but to save the best for last, Hari Nef wore an incredible custom Proenza Schouler leather fringe strapless dress that I’ll be thinking about forever. She wore her fiery red hair in a straight side-parted long bob.
