Ariana Grande’s press run as Glinda doesn’t end here because, of course, she has a whole second part to promote later this year. But she’s up for her first Oscar, and this dress is a celebration of that. Grande walked the carpet in a gorgeous and breathtaking custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring 2025 dress that showed just earlier this season in Paris.

The dress itself is a pale pink version of the champagne gold dress that Daniel Roseberry sent down the runway this January. It’s a hard shell satin bodice with a corset in the back. The bodice juts out into a sculptural skirt, from which hangs curtains of tulle. The skirt alone contains 190,000 crystal sequin and rhinestone embellishments, giving the entire piece a sweeping dress as Grande moves. She literally looks like she floats down in a bubble, dog.

This dress is a perfect choice for Grande and her method dressing as Glinda. Of the collection it came from, Schiaparelli Creative Director Daniel Roseberry said in his show notes, “I realized what I wanted to do: Create something that feels new because it’s old. I’m so tired of everyone constantly equating modernity with simplicity: Can’t the new also be worked, be baroque, be extravagant? Has our fixation on what looks or feels modern become a limitation? Has it cost us our imagination?”

Grande’s glam was very simple, complementing her during blonde bleach jobs. Her makeup is very simple, neutral, and porcelain doll-like, leaving the eyes very skinlike on shadow front with a sweeping lash and a simple natural lip color. Her hair is slicked into a tight high ballerina bun.

Grande began her career in entertainment as actress on Broadway in 13 The Musical, and then later in Nickelodeon, playing Cat Valentine in Victorious. She pivoted into pop stardom, but Grande seems at home as an actress. Tonight she is up for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Glinda in Wicked.
