Kim Kardashian went to the best after party in Los Angeles, the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, and she rolled up in what is, unmistakably, a wedding dress.

Now, it’s kind of unfair because We Live In A Society where you can’t wear a white dress without it being a wedding dress, but come on, this is a freaking wedding dress. I actually really love the practice of celebrities wearing haute couture designer bridal to awards shows because they are truly some of the most beautiful clothes made in the world, and who the hell else will ever get the chance to actually wear them? Kardashian wore a custom Balenciaga Haute Couture white wedding dress. The dress is strapless and backless with a high waistline, and a voluminous princess-like silhouette. The fabric itself was draped and wrapped around her bodice and bustling skirt, almost giving it a wrinkling bedsheet effect. She kept her glam very clean and paired back: moisturized, dewy skin, a nude lip, and a simple eye, styled with a sleek gelled down up-do. She didn’t even have earrings or a necklace on.

Naturally, naysayers didn’t like the look. The Daily Mail reported that some fans were saying it looked like toilet paper. That has always been the case with haute couture, making showpiece garments that garner attention and elicit reactions, and then of course, reactions. Personally, I’m a fan of the effect. It’s a gorgeously crafted gown, and it doesn’t have to look like the dress someone on Twitter would wear to their wedding to be a beautiful work of fashion.
