There’s something deliciously dramatic about a celebrity’s style shift after a breakup. The outfits get bolder, the colors brighter, and there’s often an emphasis on showing skin. It makes sense—because there’s nothing better than looking good after a failed relationship. Jennifer Lopez proved this when she attended the Broadway debut of Good Night, and Good Luck in New York City (which stars George Clooney) on April 3, wearing what can only be described as a “revenge dress.”
Lopez was a must-see in a plunging black velvet gown by Saiid Kobeisy. The floor-length number hugged her famous curves, delivering a head-turning silhouette. After posing for a few snaps in the look—paired with Briony Raymond jewelry—Lopez added on a cape. The billowing white piece featured puffed shoulders and a cascading train. Rather than wearing her hair up, she kept the contrast going with a shaggy, center-part blowout in honey blonde waves. The look was sexy, steamy, and undeniably confident. Her glam matched the vibe with smoky eyes, rosy cheeks, and a soft pink lip.

Whether Lopez meant for the look to scream “your loss” or not, it brought to mind the iconic Christina Stambolian dress Princess Diana wore the same night Prince Charles (now King Charles) admitted to having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. Lopez’s moment, meanwhile, followed recent comments made by ex-husband Ben Affleck about their marriage.

In a new GQ interview, Affleck reflected on their divorce, saying there was “no scandal” and that he has the utmost respect for Lopez, whom he admitted navigates the spotlight better than he does.
The couple officially split when Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 after two years of marriage. They wed in July 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2021—nearly two decades after calling off their first engagement and wedding in 2004.
