This year’s Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” which is celebration of and Black fashion, Black menswear, and the history of Black dandy. According to StyleCaster fashion editor Robyn Merrett, expect “power dressing with sharp tailoring, dramatic silhouettes, statement accessories,” and for beauty, “think towering hair, graphic eye makeup, and main-character manicures.” So our eyes are on the Met Gala red carpet to see who showed up, dressed up, and did their homework.
Our eyes are also on the celebs who…didn’t quite get the assignment (as gorgeous as their looks are). We’ll be updating this page with all the stars who didn’t follow the “dress code,” i.e. didn’t wear a Black designer or pay homage to Black fashion or culture. Keep refreshing for a full list of all the stars who missed the mark.

Sweeney is wearing Miu Miu and has stated she’s paying tribute to Kim Novak. She was styled by Molly Dickson. Sweeney was inspired by Novak as she’s set to portray her in the movie Scandalous.

Klum is wearing Vetements.

Hawke is wearing custom Prada.

Sink is wearing custom Prada, styled by Molly Dickson.

Anderson is wearing Tory Burch.

Cyrus is wearing Alaia and Cartier.

Sofia Richie is wearing Tommy Hilfiger in a dress that’s very *her* but not-so-much on-theme.
