She’s here and it’s glorious: Selena Gomez’s 2024 Golden Globes look is red hot! Nominated for the Best Television Actress in the Musical or Comedy Series category for her performance in Only Murders in the Building, (the same nomination as last year) actress, musician, and social media mogul Selena Gomez is turning heads at the 81st Golden Globes Award held in Beverly Hills on January 7.

The Rare Beauty founder dazzled in a head-to-toe custom Giorgio Armani Privé ruby red silk gown. The high-neck halter top featured mesmerizing cut-outs with a pleated detail, adorned by three black crystal-embroidered flowers cascading down the bodice. Completing the look was an asymmetrical full skirt, paired with ruby pointed-toe heels and sparkling silver jewelry.

To compliment the Armani gown, long-term nail artist Tom Bachik created a high-gloss nail look for Selena using essie products. “Selena’s custom dress is such an amazing red with black accents, and we felt the nails should play off that,” Bachik shared. The black high-gloss shine found in the flowers on the front was the perfect inspiration.” To complete the look, the multi-hyphenate wore a red crystal JW PEI Gabbi Handbag to continue the red hot theme.

After 2023’s velvet Valentino knockout gown, all eyes are on the star again. Last year, she wowed the crowd in a strapless column shaped gown featuring small cut-outs at the bust and a statement slit in the center with oversized eggplant-colored puffy sleeves. The long train then draped down the red carpet. Veering from her typically modern looks with full sequins and mini dresses, the Valentino dress played into old-Hollywood traditions. As for her hair, long brown locks were swept into a high ponytail and Rare Beauty was blushed on her face.

Known as the official start to awards season, this year, attendees are leaning into white and peplum details at the Golden Globes red carpet — and Gomez’s red stood out in a sea of similarities. We predict the same sentiment to be displayed in afterparty looks thrown by Netflix, Hulu, and other big television giants.

Selena Gomez credits much of her style to long-time stylist Kate Young, whom she’s worked with since the “Revival” 2015 Tour and Erin Walsh who has been responsible for her recent wardrobe switch ups. Of course, the 31-year-old works closely with Louis Vuitton and Coach for custom looks, as well as high-fashion stands out from Valentino, Rodarte, and Oscar de la Renta. Off-duty, Gomez mixes in Victor Gleamud, Ganni, and Mango into her style.

In terms of accessories, Selenators, Sel’s loyal fan group, have been on edge to see if new boyfriend Benny Blanco will appear on her arm at the Golden Globes. Last year, the 31-year-old graced the carpet with ten-year-old little sister Gracie Teefey as her date. But as Gomez and Blanco continue in a steamy PDA series (the stars were spotted courtside this week at a Laker game), fans are pretty split on the pair getting serious. Half want the star to be happy and the other half won’t forget that Blanco, who is a well-known music producer, produced ex-Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” the infamous lines that touted Gomez as clingy and self-obsessed throughout their on-and-off, eight year relationship. Tonight, though, Gomez appeared solo as she smiled across the carpet.

Coming off the heels of Gomez’s song and Apple TV+ documentary, My Mind and Me, fans anxiously await a new album, the first since Rare in 2020. Although new music will be welcomed, it might be the last fans receive for a while: “I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else,” Gomez said on a recent episode of SmartLess, a podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. “I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting.” Whether greater focus is placed on acting or signing, both routes would bring on more award nominations and equally, enchanting red carpet appearances.
