Marc Jacobs just added another icon to his growing cast of celebrity models, with Bette Midler fronting his SS ’16 campaign.

Jacobs posted an Instagram Thursday night of the 70-year-old actress and singer along with the caption, “What a privilege it is to know your heroes.” Jacobs then goes on to credit Midler for his start in fashion design:

“To this day, I still credit Bette Midler (unbeknownst to her) with a large part of my foray into fashion design. At age ten when I discovered the image drawn by Richard Amsel for her album cover, I was so instantly enamored by the silhouetted Bette in a black dress wearing platform sandals with a wedge of red curly hair that I recreated it on the back of a jean jacket with acrylic paint and embroidery floss and proudly wore it to school.”

The “Divine Miss M” wears a coat from Jacobs’ fall Americana and cinema-themed runway show; the campaign was shot by photographer David Sims and styled by longtime Marc Jacobs collaborator, Katie Grand.

Midler is in good company, as recent Marc Jacobs campaign front-runners include other cult-status celebs Cher, Debi Mazar, and Winona Ryder. The enthusiasm for her stunning campaign seems to be mutual, as Midler sent out this exuberant tweet today.
