These boots, which launched in the 70s and are known for their functional and durable construction, transcend their more utilitarian function into fashion and pop culture alike. “The style hasn’t changed much over time, which helped solidify their place in modern culture,” says celebrity stylist Samantha Brown, who calls them a “utility classic.”
In honor of the boots’ iconic history, Timberland recently launched its “Advice of an Icon” campaign, featuring icons like Kiko Mizuhara, a tastemaker who embodies the brand’s style through her own eclectic streetwear aesthetic, as well as Spike Lee and Skepta.
Throughout the decades, Timberland yellow boots have served as a symbol of independence, resilience, and reinvention. “In the 90s, they became iconic through the hip hop artists who wore them,” says Brown. “Collabs with Supreme, Off White, and Tommy Hilfiger brought them to the forefront of high-end fashion.”

How to Style Timberland Boots
With their “icon” status, these yellow boots are one of the most versatile pieces of footwear in any wardrobe—and a staple for fall styling.
Since they have a more laidback vibe, Brown says you can’t go wrong with a good pair of denim. “Timberland boots go hand in hand with denim—but I’d avoid pairing them with skinny jeans,” she explains. “Opt for a slouchier look to keep it relaxed and modern.”
You can also create a cute, laid-back look with sweats or cargo pants such as the Cotton On Benny Cargo Pant, or the Gap Pull-On Barrel Sweatpants.
