Long legs look so good in jeans when they fit right. Denim brands don’t always take into account elongated frames, making it hard to find a pair off the rack that actually fits well and doesn’t appear cropped or flooded. If you want jeans with hems that actually touch your ankles, get to know your preferred leg length and look for jeans with long inseams.
Ahead, we share the best jeans for tall women (all of which have long enough inseams), plus stylist insights on finding jeans that fit long legs.
“I love a wide-leg or a flare on a tall frame,” says fashion stylist Kam Throckmorton. “Long legs were meant for jeans, so I say the longer the line, the better.” With that said, you can still play around with your jeans styles and, to be honest, wear practically any style. “There isn’t one specific style that tall women should wear—luckily, they have many options in different colors and fits,” celebrity stylist Samantha Brown adds.
If you want to accentuate long legs, a straight leg or flare can do the trick. “Flare jeans are often cut longer, making them easier to buy off the rack,” wardrobe stylist Kathryne Cole confirms. Throckmorton also loves exaggerated barrel jeans on tall frames. And, of course, you can’t go wrong with a classic bootcut silhouette, which Cole says “balances length with shape.”
The nice thing about having long legs is that some of the current trends—cough, low-rise jeans, cough—also work well with your body type, since you can afford to lose a little bit of length in the legs while keeping things proportionate. According to Cole, low-rise baggy jeans (like the Abercrombie & Fitch Low Rise Baggy Jean) offer a “modern and relaxed, grounding fit” to those with long legs.
In addition to the classic ankle-length styles, Brown says tall women can also wear cropped jeans. “One thing to be mindful of is the length of the cropped jeans,” she notes. “There’s a sweet spot on every body that highlights the individual’s leg shape, and sometimes a regular crop can be too short on taller women.” With that in mind, look for cropped jeans that come in different lengths, such as the Quince Bella Stretch Wide Leg Jeans, which are available in a 32-inch inseam (and cost only $50!).
