Jennifer Lawrence is a three-stripe girlie through and through. She’s been wearing Adidas’ Samba and Taekwondo sneakers on repeat lately, but she just added a new style from the brand to her rotation. Lawrence stepped out into New York City’s fake summer day sporting Adidas’ Tokyo sneakers on March 29, 2025. This comes as no surprise considering many people are saying the Tokyos are the new Sambas.

But what makes these rising It sneakers comparable to the cult-fave, celeb-worn Sambas? They have a similar low profile (which is one of our 2025 sneaker trend predictions), streamlined silhouette, and gum sole. The tongue isn’t quite as exaggerated, and if anything, the Tokyos look like a crossover between the Sambas and Taekwondos but with a more retro or vintage flair. They still manage to look super modern, pairing well with everything from baggy trousers and an oversized blazer to a midi skirt and a tee a la JLaw. From the office to the park, the Tokyos are very much in the running for the hottest sneakers of spring and summer 2025. So swap your Sambas and Taekwondos for a more unique design that you’re about to see everywhere.

As for styling, take it from Lawrence, who chose a white midi skirt, a white T-shirt, and a butter-yellow jacket. She accessorized with a zebra-print bag, round sunnies, and a long, red pendant necklace, which ties in the red from her Tokyo sneakers. And although most people who are rocking low-profile sneakers pair them with ankle socks, JLaw seemingly went sockless with the Tokyos (it was 80°, after all).

The actress’ Adidas sneakers in the same red and white colorway are only available on Luisaviaroma’s site for $100, so snag them before they’re truly sold out at all retailers. However, other cute colorways are ready to shop on Adidas’ site ($90) and Foot Locker ($90). Channel the Onitsuka Tiger vibe with the bright yellow option or keep it low-key with the white and royal blue style. There’s even a suede version if you prefer that material in your sneakers (suede is another 2025 sneaker trend we’re forecasting). Either way, you should act fast because once shoppers catch onto this shoe, it’ll be hard to get your hands on a pair.
