I grew up in a tight-knit surfing town (Encinitas, CA—iykyk), which meant half my senior class had zero period surfing class, and nearly everyone wore Reef sandals to school. Known for their comfort and coolness, Reef made the best flip-flops that could take a teen from AP English to the beach. 20 years later (omg), I’m still wearing Reef sandals, because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And I’m buying several more pairs during their Memorial Day Weekend sale, because of course I am.
I own several styles of Reef sandals, including their flip-flop (the Reef Cushion Breeze has my whole heart), but my recent fave is the Water Vista Higher, which is a water-friendly platform design.

Like all Reef sandals, this pair is so lightweight and cushion-y, you could absolutely wear it for long periods of time and not experience a second of foot pain. It’s waterproof, so you can wear them to the pool (I love them for pool and beach days), has ribbed outsoles so it’s slip-proof, and features compression-molded EVA footbeds.
I recently wore my Water Vista Higher sandals to a one-year-old birthday party, complete with a bounce house. When I tell you I was so thankful I chose a pair of comfortable sandals to wear to a baby birthday party—I was constantly running around with my 9-month-old daughter, from bounce house to ball pit, all the while trying to stay cool in 75-degree super-sunny San Diego weather.

I’m snagging these classic flip-flops for my husband, who thinks wearing Converse to the pool is acceptable footwear etiquette. Unlike plastic flip-flops, these are made with genuine leather and have arch support, making them a good choice for all-day wear.
