I own at least six pairs of Hokas. As someone who does a lot of outside walking and running, Hokas are key for a comfortable, supporting walk—especially if you have any kind of foot issues, like fallen arches or flat feet. Back when I first got serious about running, I wore the wrong shoes outside, and developed a sprained ankle. I had to take a break, and wear a compression sleeve for months—it set me back months. Now, I make sure to always wear an appropriate shoe for whatever I’m doing, whether that’s walking the dogs, hiking, or lifting weights. And my Hokas are in heavy rotation.
Best Running Shoe: Clifton 9, $117 (was $145)
Best Road Running Shoe: Arahi 7, $117 (was $145)
Best Trail Running Shoe: Challenger 7, $117 (was $145)
Best Everyday Shoe: Transport X, $168 (was $210)
If you’re looking for a supreme pair of support sneakers, Hokas can’t be beat. But they’re expensive, which is why I’m always on the lookout for a discount. Lucky for all of us chunky shoe lovers, Hoka is on massive sale at REI’s biggest sale of the year, the Anniversary Sale (live until May 26).
Below, are my personal favorites.
